Description

Formed in early 2016 by veteran musicians John Beagley and Robin Schell, Life In Digital set out to merge their love of prog rock with sound elements from the turbulent days of the 1980s.

Life in Digital are Robin Schell, recently featured on the Yes tribute album Yesterday and Today. Former singer with Blue Shift and Midnight Under Glass, and also worked with Under The Sun, Dave Kerzner and Leon Russell among others.

John Beagley who has worked with members of King Crimson, Sound of Contact, Van Der Graaf Generator GTR, Mike Oldfield s 80s band,Glass Hammer and Mark Brzezicki.

On this, their second album, entitled Signs to the Far Side, the duo have gone for more of a rock sound where guitar and keyboards meet each other head-on in equal measure. All the usual suspects are present in the form of soaring melodies, big vocal harmonies, and a production that harks back to the heyday of digital synths and the ubiquitous Lexicon reverb and SSL console.

Building on the momentum of their 2017 debut, 2951 Seconds of Sound, the new album finds its own way stylistically, venturing onto paths less well-trodden and drawing on more esoteric influences. In so doing, the band has truly found its own cohesive voice, giving a fresh take on the prog genre, and crafting a musical journey with highs and lows, riffs and space and never a dull moment.

The new album is influenced by many of the musicians they have worked with to produce this highly melodic progressive rock sound

“In an alternate universe John’s band might have signed with Trevor Horn’s ZTT label and Robin could have been the replacement singer for Yes in the late 1980s. Both were real possibilities but for fate’s fickle whims”.
